A Tradition of Service to Our County.
A native western Pennsylvanian, Devlin Robinson’s
life reflects the hard work and deep values of a region where people admire public service.
Raised in the working-class Brookline neighborhood of Pittsburgh, Devlin hails from a family for which public service has been a four-generation tradition. Robinson men have served in virtually every major conflict since World War I. Devlin’s great-grandfather served during WWI, his grandfather as a Marine at Guadalcanal. His father enlisted in the Marines during the Vietnam Era, while his brother and four cousins have also served in the Marines during the War on Terror. His father, the late James Robinson, went on to head the Pennsylvania State office of Probation and Parole. Devlin attended Central Catholic High School, and then joined the Marine Corps. Following the 9/11 attacks, Devlin requested assignment to the infantry ensuring him a spot on the front lines.
“The attacks on our nation were an unprecedented injustice and I knew I had to do something, play some part, in not only defending our people, but our country’s values,”
He would go on to serve three combat tours in Iraq and Afghanistan, where he fought as an infantryman in Nasiriyah, Fallujah and later a deployment to Afghanistan. Nasiriyah became known as “ambush alley,” where Devlin’s unit fought door-to-door, house-to-house, until they rescued Army POW Jessica Lynch.
Home in Brookline, Devlin became an entrepreneur, founding his own medical supply company. Veterans Medical Technology leases advanced equipment to hospitals and other medical facilities around the tri-state area. At the same time, he enrolled at Robert Morris University, using the GI bill to earn an undergraduate degree in business before earning an MBA at the University of Pittsburgh’s Katz School of Business. Devlin’s service to the men and women of the military did not end with his Marine enlistment.
“The military taught me resolve — the kind of resolve it takes to win on the field of battle.
That’s a transferableskill when it comes to creating and sustaining a business.
I learned that some skills transfer: making a plan, executing it, and constantly adapting to changes on theground.”
He serves as a mentor, advisor and team leader for Semper Fi Odyssey, and as vice president of Veterans Place at Washington Boulevard. Semper Fi Odyssey is a camp for service men and women transitioning to civilian life. Veterans Place provides transitional housing and job placement for veterans. Committed to lifelong conservative values, Devlin became active in the Republican Party and worked as a volunteer in state, local and municipal campaigns around the area, eventually managing the 2014 reelection campaign of then U.S. Rep. Tim Murphy and numerous other Republican candidates in Pittsburgh’s South Hills. Devlin is a strong Second Amendment advocate, proudly pro-life, and a fiscal conservative. He has pledged to fight any attempts at adding to the tax burdens on Pennsylvanians.
